Story
The film takes place in the United States in the 1950s , in the era of television development - the film tells the real story of the confrontation between the famous radio and television journalist Edward Marow and the influential senator - anti-communist Joseph McCarthy . Against the backdrop of the Cold War between the USA and the USSR , McCarthy, as the inspirer of the Commission for the Investigation of Anti-American Activities, became famous for his tenacity in the search and prosecution of "agents of the USSR." However, according to Marrow and his supporters, McCarthy violated American civil rights . Despite opposition from his own leadership and influential McCarthy supporters, the journalist decides to challenge the senator. Marrow passes are a success. As a result of the Senate investigation, McCarthyβs activities were discontinued, but the victory went to Marrow and his friends are not easy.
