Saksta ( Latin sexta - sixth) - musical interval six steps wide, denoted by the number 6.
Sex Types
(a) is a large sixth, (b) is a small sixth, (c) is an enlarged sixth, (d) is a reduced sixth
- Big sixth - an interval of six steps and four and a half tones , denoted by b. 6
- Small sixth - an interval of six degrees and four tones, denoted by m. 6 .
- Increased sixth - an interval of six degrees and 5 tones, denoted by uv. 6 , enharmonically equal to a small septim .
Increased sexta under construction:
- on lower II in major and harmonic minor , resolves to pure octave on the first degree
- on IV (with the participation of II increased) in major and IV reduced in minor , resolves to a clean octave at level III
- on the sixth harmonic in major and sixth in minor, resolves to a clean octave at the fifth step.
- Reduced sixth - an interval of six steps and three and a half tones, denoted by the mind. 6 , enharmonically equal to a pure quinte . It is built on an IV elevated step in a major and a minor (in both cases with the participation of a lower II) and is allowed in a clean quart on the V step.
