Iotta- (Russian designation: I ; international: Y ) is a prefix in the International System of Units (SI) , denoting the multiplication of the basic unit of measure by 10 24 (that is, by 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000, or the same the most, on one septillion ) [1] [2] . For example, 1 point meter is 10 24 meters.
The name comes from the ancient Greek word ὀκτώ [októ] "eight", since the prefix corresponds to 1000 8 .
Adopted by the XIX General Conference on Weights and Measures in 1991 [3] . As of 2014, iotta is the largest prefix, although the introduction of consoles multiplying by 10 27 and 10 30 is currently being discussed.
