Epiplatis Schaper , or Schaper’s pike [1] ( Latin: Epiplatys chaperi ) - a species of lacquer fish from the family of notothranchian ( Nothobranchiidae ), an aquarium fish. It is found in equatorial West Africa from Gabon to Liberia , from where it was first brought to Europe in 1908 .

They call it “pike” for the shape of the body, and especially the muzzle, elongated like a pike . Inhabitants of the upper, in extreme cases, the middle layers of water. The male has a fiery red throat, an olive-brown body, and black and silver stripes on the silver-blue sides. The caudal fin is framed in black below. The eyes are half yellow and half blue. The female is slightly smaller and more modestly colored. Length is up to 6 cm.
