Work on the creation of a new submachine gun unfolded in the framework of the ROC "Baksanets" [2] . A patent for the design was obtained in 2001 , but it was first presented to the general public in 2004 - in the summer at the Paris exhibition Eurosatori- 2004 and in the fall at the Moscow Interpolitech- 2004.

PP-2000 is positioned as a weapon for law enforcement units operating in urban environments, as well as a personal defense weapon for certain categories of military personnel [3] .

As a result of the trial operation of pre-production samples on the basis of the departmental security department at the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Moscow Region, certain modifications were made to the basic design of the PP-2000, allowing for more efficient and safe use of the submachine gun in urban areas ” [4] .

In 2006, mass production of PP-2000 for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation began [5] .

Content

Construction

The submachine gun is built on the basis of automation with a free gate, the fire is fired from the closed bolt. The trigger mechanism - trigger type. The PP-2000 case is made of high-strength plastic. The barrel is chrome-plated. The pistol grip, traditionally for compact submachine guns, also serves as the neck for the magazine. The massive trigger guard can be used as a fire control stick [1] , and also allows you to fire a weapon without removing thick gloves. A feature of this submachine gun is the ability to use a spare magazine as a shoulder rest [1] . The fuse - the translator of fire modes is located only on the left side of the weapon; however, the cocking lever and the magazine latch button can be reset to either side [2] .

Since 2006, the serial PP-2000s have been equipped with a removable side-folding metal shoulder [1] [6] , and at the DEFEXPO arms exhibition (February 2010) [7] , a variant with a more convenient unfolded plastic butt of a skeletal structure was presented [ 8] .

Also, the PP-2000 can be equipped with a silencer, LCU of the visible or IR range, a collimator or telescopic sight, a night vision device and a tactical flashlight [1] .

A universal aiming bar [9] [10] is installed on the receiver cover of the serial PP-2000.

Used ammunition

The PP-2000 submachine gun can use various cartridges of 9 × 19 mm, including:

  • commercial cartridges 9 × 19 mm,
  • army cartridges 9 × 19 mm,
  • 9 × 19 mm ammunition with a 7H31 armor-piercing bullet of Russian design [4] - provide penetration of 8 mm steel sheet at a distance of up to 10 m [1] , 5 mm at a distance of 45 m and 3 mm at a distance of 80 m [4] .

The clearance of the best half of bullets when shooting at a distance of 100 m is [2] :

  • shooting prone with hands
    • single - 25 × 25 cm;
    • bursts - 100 × 100 cm;
  • shooting standing with hands
    • single - 40 × 40 cm;
    • bursts - 140 × 140 cm
