Biography

Born May 30, 1929 in the village of Kurmanayevo of the Chistopol canton [1] of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1947, after graduating from high school in Kazan, he entered the historical and philological faculty of Kazan State University , which he graduated with honors in 1952.

As a student in 1951, he was hired by the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Kazan Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences , where he went from a laboratory assistant to a doctor of science, professor, and for more than 30 years he headed the department of archeology and ethnography. The university became the second home for A. Kh. Khalikov, where for many years he gave lectures on the general course of archeology and the special course Ethnogenesis of the peoples of the Middle Volga and Ural regions, supervised term papers and dissertations, and the student archeological group.

Thanks to his energy, an archaeological museum was recreated at Kazan University. [2]
