Story
The film is based on the idea proposed by Alexei German to film the "Family of the Ghoul" by A. K. Tolstoy . However, the end result has little to do with the original source.
In the basement, a strange couple - grandfather and boy - set trap loops to catch and hang a prey. At the same time, the biological scientist rushes into the village to his cousin to finish the story about the shrew . The strange behavior of the local inhabitants attracts his attention. Each of them is obsessed with manic ideas, mystical in nature. They forcibly replenish their own ranks with new members, deforming their psyche through involvement in various kinds of sadomasochistic acts.
