Biography

Of the nobles, the landowner (only 2841 acres, including the estate of Sofia in the Bakhmut district of the Ekaterinoslav province ). He graduated from law school . From 1881 he served in the Ministry of Justice, from 1885 - in the State Chancellery. Since 1893 - Assistant Secretary of State for the Council of State, with appointment to the Branch of the Code of Laws. In 1896, dismissed from service with the rank of full state councilor.

In 1907 he was elected a member of the State Council for Elections from the nobility of the Ekaterinoslav province; retiring from its composition by lot in 1912, he was immediately re-elected to it. Belonged to the right group.

A longtime acquaintance of M.V. Rodzianko in Yekaterinoslav, Karpov was constantly attracted by the chairman of the IV Duma as a consultant on complex legal and political issues. Privy Councilor (January 1, 1914). In August 1915, he was elected by the State Council a member of the Special Meeting on the Provision of Fuel (Osotope), in 1916 - a member of the Special Meeting on Defense .

After the revolution of 1917 he emigrated. Died in France, in Nice.
