Geography

The village is located on the eastern slope of the Ural Mountains , 120 kilometers north of Yekaterinburg and 81 kilometers southeast of Nizhny Tagil , on the banks of the Neiva River. The highway Alapaevsk -Murzinka- Petrokamenskoe - Nikolo-Pavlovskoye , which connects the city of Alapaevsk with Nizhny Tagil, passes through Murzinka.

History

According to Mamin-Sibiryak , the name Murzinka arose because Tatar murza lived in these places [3] . The village was founded in 1639 by the boyar son Andrei Buzheninov in a tract called the Murzinsky spruce, like the Murzinsky prison, whose Cossack garrison was supposed to guard the Verkhotursky tract. In 1662, Murzinka was burned to the ground during the Tatar-Bashkir-Vogul raid.

Infrastructure

The village has an Orthodox church, a club, a post office and the Mineralogical Museum - the main attraction of the village. Murzinka can be reached by bus from the cities of Nizhny Tagil and Alapaevsk .

There are no industrial enterprises.

Gems

The village is located on the territory of the so-called semiprecious strip of the Urals , rich in deposits of precious stones, and belongs to the Murzinko-Aduysky mega anticline fold. Murzinka is famous for its blue topazes , beryls , pegmatite , rock crystal and other valuable minerals.

Pegmatites in the area of the Murzinka village in the Middle Urals have been known since the 17th century. In 1668, Mikhail Tumashev announced the find "in the mountains above the Neiva River, near Murzinsky prison, colored stones and copper ore." In 1669, the first aquamarine was mined near Murzinka. [4] [5] . Residents of entire families from generation to generation were engaged in the extraction of gems and stone-cutting art. [6] . Precious stones were even delivered to the imperial court [7] .

In the vicinity of the village are famous deposits such as the Mokrush Mine ( topaz ) or Vatikha ( amethyst mine). Most deposits are considered worked out, but even their dumps still attract stone lovers.

Museum

In 1973 , the Mineralogical Museum named after A.E. Fersman was opened in Murzinka. [8] , created on the initiative of a local resident Ivan Zverev - the grandson of the famous Ural mountaineer D.K. Zverev , who served P. P. Bazhov as the prototype of Danila the master - the hero of “ Ural Tales ” [9] . Interestingly, in Moscow there is a museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the same name. The Murzinsky Museum is located in the premises of the Sretensky Church, built in 1729 at the expense of parishioners. The exposition shows samples of local minerals, ancient stone-cutting devices, household items of peasants.
