Geography
In the north it borders with the governorate of Al-Tafila , in the east with the governorate of Ma'an , in the south with Saudi Arabia , in the west with Israel . In the south-west comes to the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba of the Red Sea .
Aqaba, a port in the Red Sea, plays an important role in the economic life of Jordan and has many attractions. The Jordan-Saudi border runs several kilometers south of Aqaba. In 1965, the late King Hussein traded 12 km of the valuable coastal strip for 6,000 km of desert. . The port of Aqaba is the most important import / export center for Jordan.
