Until 1939, the village of Oyäärvi was part of the Kaukola parish of the Vyborg province (Finland). The toponym “Ojäärvi” literally means “Brook Lake”.
In the winter of 1948, the village of Oyäärvi was given the transferable name Brooks .
The railway platform located in the village (in the recent past - the station) has retained the old name - Oyäärvi .
To the east of the village is Brook Lake .
According to 1990, the village of Brooks was part of the Borodino Village Council [2] .
In the spring of 2008, the construction of a double-track junction in Oyäärvi (on the site of the former station, closed in the early 90s) began. Restoration work is associated with the planned transfer of a significant part of the cargo flow from the Vyborg direction to a parallel passage through Sosnovo and Hiitola .
