On November 25, 1988, minors (it is known that one of the criminals was 17 years old [1] ) Hiroshi Miyano ( 宮 野 裕 史 ), Jo Ogura ( 小 倉 譲 ), Shinji Minato ( 湊 伸 治 ) and Yasushi Watanabe ( 渡邊 恭 史 ) were kidnapped A 16-year-old second-year high school student (corresponding to 11th grade out of 12) named Junko Furuta, who lived in the city of Misato in Saitama Prefecture . For several weeks [2], the attackers forcibly kept her in the house of the parents of one of the abductors.

To complicate the work of the police, one of the abductors forced Furuta to call his parents and tell them that she had escaped from the house, was now with her friend and was not in danger. He also threatened that, in the presence of the owners of the house, Furuta would impersonate the girl of one of the kidnapping guys. This model of behavior ceased to be necessary when it turned out that they were not going to call the police . The girl tried to escape several times, repeatedly begging the parents of the young man in whose house she was staying to help her, but they did nothing, fearing revenge of Miyano, who at that time was the leader of a small Yakuza group and declared that he would use the connections and kill anyone who dare to hinder him .

According to the statements made by the criminals during the investigation, they four raped Furuta, beat him with metal bars and golf clubs , injected foreign objects (including an electric bulb ) into the vagina , forced them to drink their own urine and eat cockroaches , put fireworks into the anus and set fire to they were forced to masturbate , they cut her nipples , threw dumbbells on her stomach, burned her with cigarettes and lighters . One of the burns was punished as an attempt to call the police. At some point, Furuta’s wounds became so painful that, according to one of the criminals, she crawled down the stairs for more than an hour to use the bathroom. They also said that “maybe another hundred people” knew that the girl was imprisoned in that house, but remained unclear: either these people simply were in that house, or also participated in torture and rape . Furuta repeatedly begged the attackers to "kill (her) and end it."

On January 4, 1989, using a mahjong loss as an excuse, she was beaten with a barbell and subjected to bullying: they poured liquid from a lighter onto her legs, arms, face and stomach and set it on fire. That day, Furuta died. The criminals claimed that they did not realize how severe the injuries to Furuta were; they supposedly thought she was pretending to be.

On January 5, 1989, Furuta’s body was placed in a barrel, filled with cement mortar and thrown away at a construction site in the Tokyo district of Koto .

Arrest and Punishment

The Furuta case in Japan was called the “High School Grade Killing and Cementing Case” ( 女子 高 生 コ ン ク リ ー ト 詰 め 殺人 事件 Joshi ko: Sei конку то: tsume satsujin jiken ) , it received the number “Heisei 2 U- 58 58 58. ” う 1058 ) . The criminals were arrested and tried as adults, but, according to the requirements of the Japanese juvenile justice system, their names were not disclosed. However, the weekly Shūkan Bunshun publication nevertheless made public the personal data of the killers, arguing that “human rights do not apply to livestock” [3] . The personal data and biography of the victim of the crime were also detailed in media reports .

The criminals pleaded partially guilty of "causing bodily harm that resulted in the death of the victim." The criminals refused to admit their guilt in the premeditated murder. In July 1990, the criminals were sentenced, which provided for imprisonment of 4 to 17 years in prison [4] .

The parents of the deceased were not satisfied with the sentence imposed on the murderers of their daughter, and filed a civil lawsuit against the parents of the accomplice in whose house the crime occurred. Some of the charges were dropped in connection with conflicting evidence (the sperm and pubic hair found on the corpse of the murdered woman did not match the sperm and pubic hair of those arrested). Therefore, the lawyer representing the interests of the victim's parents refused to take further part in the case.

Hiroshi Miyano, who was recognized as the main criminal and served 17 years, after leaving prison changed his name to Hiroshi Yokoyama. Jo Ogura, recognized as his first assistant, spent eight years in a juvenile prison and was released in August 1999, taking the name Jo Kamisaku.
