The Regulation on the specially protected natural territory of local importance (SPNA) "Sosnovy Les" tract was developed on the basis of the Regulation "On the conservation and development of specially protected natural territories of local importance in the city of Lipetsk", adopted by the decision of the Lipetsk City Council of Deputies N 574 of 05.29.2007, in order to preserve natural landscapes, recreational resources and maintain the ecological balance in urban environments.
The territory on which the Pine Forest tract is located, with a total area of 6.93 hectares, has been declared a specially protected natural area of local importance - the urban recreation zone "Pine Forest tract. The protected areas are located in the southwest of the city of Lipetsk in the territory of 19 microdistrict in both the banks of the Lipovka River in its upper reaches, the boundaries of the tract extend along the edge of the log slopes and are limited from the west and east by embankments of roads and dirt roads.

In conjunction with natural monuments of regional significance, Kamenny Log, Upper Park, Lower Park, as well as the planned protected natural areas Victory Park and Petrovsky Pond tract, a single protected "green" zone is formed, passing through the whole the territory of the right-bank part of the city of Lipetsk. The species of animals represented on the territory of this tract are mostly typical of the urban zone.
