History
In 1660, the postal (later telecommunication) state-owned company GPO ( General Post Office - General Post Office) was created. In 1869, the GPO announced a monopoly on telegraphy, and in 1912 on telephony. In 1878, the GPO launched a fixed telephone network, in 1895 - a wired radio station Electrophone. In 1912, the GPO monopoly on telephony was announced. In 1922, the radio station 2LO was launched, launched in a separate public company - BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation - British Broadcasting Corporation). In 1926, the Electrophone was closed. In 1979, the GPO launched Prestel [2] . In 1981, the GPO was split into Post Office and British Telecom. In 1982, she lost her monopoly. In 1984, privatized. In 1994, British Telecom curtailed Prestel [2] .
