Borders
It borders with the Northern Province in the northeast, and with the Southern Province in the southeast. Most of the borders of the Western region are the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean . The western region is the only province of Sierra Leone that does not have a border with foreign states.
Population
Unlike the other three provinces of Sierra Leone, urban populations prevail in the Western Region.
Administrative Division
Administratively divided into two districts (districts):
- Freetown Rural Area,
- Freetown urban area.
The administrative center of both areas is Freetown.
Economics
The western region is the richest province of Sierra Leone, it has the most developed economy, serves as the financial and cultural center of the country, as well as the seat of the country's government.
