Aquarium Content
For maintenance, it is desirable to have an aquarium of at least 50 liters, planted with plants, with free space for swimming. Desirable old, soft water with a temperature of 22-25 Β° C, hardness up to 10 Β°, pH 6.0-7.5.
Feeding
Sorting to feed is not demanding, can eat all kinds of live and dry feed. Sometimes fish are fed with semolina and white bread.
Breeding
Out of many dozens of eggs, only a few fry can be obtained. Particular attention should be paid to ensure that the water temperature is constantly kept at about 28 Β° C, as caviar is unusually sensitive to all kinds of temperature changes.
When spawning, which should take place in an aquarium planted with ludwig, cryptocoryne or aponogetone , the female is usually the active side. She tries to force the male to rise to the surface of the water, where both fishes, having pressed their sides to each other, are turned upside down and the female glues several eggs to the lower surface of the wide sheet. The female spawns eggs on several leaves until she sweeps all the eggs. After that, the female and male are caught.
About a day and a half later, larvae appear, which after 5 days turn into fry. Fry is fed with nauplii of cyclops, ciliates.
Compatibility
Parsing is a peaceful fish, most often it is kept in a common aquarium with non-aggressive neighbors.
