Formation Regiment
Formed on October 29, 1811 from the Sofia (old) infantry regiment. Upon the abolition of the jaeger regiments on January 28, 1833, the 1st and 3rd battalions were annexed to Volynsky , and the 2nd to the Minsk Infantry Regiments. The seniority of the regiment was not retained.
Shelf Campaigns
The regiment was in the 2nd Western Army and, with the opening of the Patriotic War, was in many battles with the French, and after they were expelled from the borders of Russia, with honors participated in the overseas campaign in Prussia and France .
Regiment Insignia
The 49th Jaeger Regiment had the following insignia: two silver pipes with the inscription "For distinction in defeating and expelling the enemy from the borders of Russia in 1812 ", granted on April 13, 1813; On April 25, 1815 the pipes were granted a second time and the previous inscription was added βin the battles of Brienne-Le-Chateau and the village of La Rottiere on April 25, 1815β; badges for hats for lower ranks with the inscription "For Distinction", granted May 3, 1814. Upon the abolition of the regiment, both pipes were transferred to the Artillery Museum ; after the formation on December 16, 1845 of two battalions of the Volyn and two battalions of the Minsk Infantry Regiments of the Dagestan Infantry Regiment , the latter were given, among other insignia, both silver pipes with the award of St. George ribbons to them; On August 1, 1874, one battalion of the Dagestan regiment entered the formation of the 164th Zakatalsky infantry regiment , into which one silver pipe was transferred from the Dagestan regiment.
