Biography
Eugene Gegechkori was born in 1881 into a noble family in Martvili, Senaki county, Kutaisi province [1] .
He studied at the Kutaisi gymnasium, graduated from it in 1902 , after which he entered the law faculty of Moscow University . In 1903 he became a member of the RSDLP . In 1905 he participated in the revolutionary events taking place in Western Georgia. After graduating from Moscow University in 1907, he received the position of assistant to the attorney in the district of Kutaisi District Court.
In October of the same year, he was elected from the Kutaisi province to the III State Duma , in which he was one of the leaders of the Social Democratic faction, sided with the Mensheviks [1] .
After the revolution, Gegechkori became one of the leaders of the Georgian Social Democratic Party [1] . Since November 1917, Eugene Gegechkori became chairman of the Transcaucasian Commissariat - the coalition government of Transcaucasia.
On February 10, 1918 (the day of the convocation of the Transcaucasian Sejm, which emphasized the fact of the separation of Transcaucasia from Russia), by order of N. Zhordania , N. Ramishvili and E. Gegechkori, who headed the Menshevik government of Georgia, a large- scale peaceful protest rally was shot in Tiflis Alexander Park [2] [ 3] .
Since November 1918 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Georgia. In 1921 he took the post of Minister of Justice [4] .
In 1921, after the establishment of Soviet power in Georgia , he emigrated to France . In the years 1953-1954, he served as chairman of the government of the Georgian Democratic Republic in exile .
He was buried at the Levilsky cemetery .

The uncle was brought to the wife of L.P. Beria - Nina Teymurazovne Beria (Hegechkori) [5] .

In 1910, in a secret note from the Petersburg Security Department of the deputy, E.P. Gegechkori was described as follows:
Gegechkori is a person with a higher education. The character is sharp, painfully proud and ambitious. In constant quarrel with the majority of deputies and knowledgeable persons. When one or another of his proposals is not accepted, he loses his temper and often leaves the meeting. A Menshevik belonging to the party as well as Pokrovsky . A lawyer by training, he speaks on budgetary, legal issues, foreign and military.
Owners do not attend meetings either, due to pride, and dislike. Has funds and often helps party members. [6] .
