Allaire Corporation specialized in software development , was founded by and Allery in Minnesota ( USA ), then the company’s headquarters was successively moved from Cambridge to Newton, Massachusetts . The company began operations in May 1995. The initial issue of shares on the NASDAQ (ALLR) took place in January 1999. In 2001, a controlling stake was acquired by a competing company Macromedia [1] .

Allaire released the first version of the ColdFusion server in 1995. It was the first database -oriented web server. The original ColdFusion markup language name, DBML, was soon changed to ColdFusion markup language, CFML.
In 2000, Allaire acquired Live Software [2] , which was founded by Paul Colton in 1997 and became known for creating the first commercial collection of Java servlets and the JSP server.
JRun was acquired by Macromedia . Then, in 2005, Macromedia itself was bought by Adobe Systems .
