Subhumans entered the vanguard of the second wave of British punk rock , but they performed more complex music than most of their like-minded people, calling the main influences Sex Pistols , The Damned , King Crimson and Frank Zappa . In 1980-1985, the group (according to Allmusic ) was recognized as "one of the most educated and musically trained" in British punk and took an intermediate position between The Clash and Crass . [2]

The Subhumans were supported early on by the Flux of Pink Indians (inviting them to record on the recently formed Spiderleg Records label), after which the band formed their own record company, Bluurg Records, where they continued to release records. In 1985, the group broke up (Lucas formed - first Culture Shock in 1986, then Citizen Fish ), but in 1991 and 1998 he gathered again, conducting American and British tours. Since 2004, Subhumans have conducted two major tours and in September 2007 recorded the new studio album Internal Riot . [3]
