Biography
Anton Fomich was born in the Kiev province in 1890.
December 12, 1914 he graduated from the Stroganov School in Moscow . [one]
Since 1915, he headed the Department of Metal Arts in the Caucasus Handicraft Committee in Tbilisi . In 1920-1929, he was teaching at the Kiev Art Institute (now the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture). Since 1921, a full member of the Archaeological Commission of the UAU . In 1930-1934 he worked at the Ukrainian Polygraphic Institute in Kharkov , from 1934 - professor at the Kiev Art Institute.
He died on August 11, 1961 from a heart attack in Korsun-Shevchenkovsky , was buried in Kiev at the Baykovsky cemetery .

Artwork
A.F. Sereda mainly developed ornamental motifs and fonts of G. Narbut in book graphics and maintained a strict line of drawing and classical means of composition. At the same time, the covers created by him are distinguished by greater severity, symmetry and balance of lines and spots, a contrasting combination of black and white.

Sereda's graphics were exhibited in 1932 at the exhibition of the Association of Independent Ukrainian Artists (ANUM) in Lviv . A retrospective exhibition of paintings and drawings by Anton Sereda took place in 1969 in Kiev.
Creating Stamps
Anton Fomich Sereda was the author of the first two brands of the Ukrainian People's Republic , in denominations of 10 and 20 steps. The stamps were published on July 18, 1918 and were made in Kiev on Pushkinskaya Street, 6, where Vasily Kulzhenko’s printing house was located in those years, as well as in the Odessa printing house of Efim Fesenko.

In addition, Anton Sereda was the creator of several brand names, for example, the brand name of Pechatnik Publishing House ( 1919 ). Sereda was also the author of the flag of the Ukrainian SSR and the coat of arms of the Ukrainian SSR .
A. Sereda was one of the organizers of the Kiev Museum of Russian Art .
A. Sereda wrote an article in German “George Narbut als Buchkünstler” (Gutenberg Jahrbuch, 1927 ) and a number of other professional articles.
Memory
- To mark the 75th anniversary of the release of the first Ukrainian postage stamps , a miniature was prepared by the postal agency of Ukraine in 1993 , depicting a stamp in 10 steps of Anton Sereda's work. At the same time, this stamp was dedicated to the celebration of the Day of the postage stamp .
- In 2008, the Ukrainian Post issued two postal blocks dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the first UNR postage stamps. On the stamps that make up the blocks, the first UNR stamps are depicted, and on coupons - portraits of G.I. Narbut and A.F. Sereda.
