Origin
He was the son of Katsia Chikovani , Prince Lechkhumi (Lechkhum- batoni ) and Salipartiano and Princess Mzehatun Dadiani.
Biography
After the death of his father, he inherited Salipartiano and Lechkhumi and became the de facto ruler of Megrelia. To strengthen his position, he initially transferred the throne to the illegitimate son of Levan III - Levan IV and rules on his behalf. According to Vahushti Bagrationi : "Levan only bore the name of the Dadian and ruled all the affairs of Lipartiani." As cruel as his father controlled Megrelia. He exterminated the noble families, sold prisoners of slavery to the Turks; according to the same Vakhushti: "his father bequeathed to him so that he would not leave people in boots free and subordinate people in bast shoes." Having entered into an alliance with Tsar Imereti Alexander, he received from him the administration of Lechkhumi . Then he supported Tsar Archil for some time, but when he did not want to secure him, Lechkhumi left him and went with the army to Megrelia. Strengthening his power, George in 1691 expelled Levan IV and became the sole ruler. Together with other nobles of Western Georgia, he repeatedly changed kings on the throne of Imereti . In 1704 he appointed his eldest son Katsy I as the Master of Megrelia, he gave Lechkhumi to his second son Bejan , and the bishopric of Chkondidskoy to his next son Gabriel, he himself remained Prince Salipartiano. At first, the sons were in his complete submission, but soon the sons quarreled with him, not forgiving him a divorce from their mother and in 1709 switched to the side of the Imereti king George. Lipartiani was forced to flee to Abkhazia , but after the death of his son Katsia regained power on Megrelia. At this time, he briefly sided with King George, then cheated on him and in 1711, with the help of other princes, put Prince Gurieli on the throne of Imereti . Then he fought for power in Megrelia with his second son Bejan . Tsar George supported one or the other. finally in 1715, father and son made peace. Bejan sent Grigol to the Catholicos father of Western Georgia, promising to submit if he visits him. As Vakhushti writes: “On this condition, Lipartiani confided in his son [...] and came to him with a few servants. Bezhan accepted it benevolently, but that night he grabbed all his servants and stole his father’s arms, grabbed him and put him in the fortress, then brought his mother, let go of Lipartiani (that is, divorced with him), let him in again to her husband, and they stayed together until his death.
