Road Atlanta ( English Road Atlanta ) - a ring race track in the city of Braiselton , Georgia , USA . Built in 1969 and was immediately included in the calendar of the Canadian-American Cup. The first race took place on September 13, 1970. In the 1970s, it hosted the stages of many championships, including Kan-Am, Formula 5000 , IMSA and Trans-Am . In November 1996, the track was acquired by American businessman Don Panoz , who reconstructed it according to FIA standards and organized a 1998-kilometer race on LMP class cars. Starting next year, this race was included in the calendar of the ALMS series every season.
