The population is 8,024 inhabitants ( 2014 ).
Located on the right bank of the Alazani Valley . Railway station 122 km east of Tbilisi ; from Gurjaani a railway branch (21 km) to Tsnori .
Economics
It is the center of the developed viticulture and winemaking region of Georgia . Gurjaani has a winery, cannery, distillery, brick and mechanical repair plants.
Culture
- There are six museums in Gurjaani and its environs: the house museum of Joseph Noneshvili , Nato Vachnadze , Ivan Beritashvili , the Shalikashvili Museum of Military Glory, the Great Patriotic War Memorial and the museum of the history of the village of Vachnadziani.
- The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in the VIII century , is unique with its two domes [4] . Currently, the restoration is completed, and the temple and the road to it are in excellent condition.
Tourism
Mud health resort Akhtala . Former resort of all-Union significance.
