History
On September 28, 1957, paying tribute to the Soviet metallurgical industry in restoring the economy of the USSR , the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR established Metallurgist Day, which began to be celebrated on the third Sunday of July [1] . The decree was confirmed by the Supreme Council on October 1, 1980 [2] and November 1, 1988 [3] . This holiday is widely celebrated in the cities where metallurgical enterprises were built ( Stary Oskol , Norilsk , Novokuznetsk , Magnitogorsk , Cherepovets , Chelyabinsk , Taganrog , Lipetsk , Monchegorsk and others).
After the collapse of the USSR , Metallurgist Day as a holiday was preserved in all CIS countries , where metallurgy plays a significant role in the country's economy. In Ukraine, the celebration was introduced by Decree of the President of June 3, 1993 No. 187/93. In Kazakhstan , Metallurgist Day is celebrated in accordance with a 2003 Decree of the President of the Republic. In the Republic of Belarus - in accordance with Presidential Decree of March 26, 1998 No. 157 “On state holidays, public holidays and memorable dates in the Republic of Belarus”. Metallurgist Day in Belarus is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of July. Celebrated in the DPR, LPR and Transnistria.
In the list of honorary titles of Russia there is the title “ Honored Metallurgist of the Russian Federation ”.
