Formation Regiment

Formed on July 13, 1806, on April 3, 1814, for distinction against the French, it was named the 26th JΓ€ger Grenadier, and on August 30, 1815 - the 5th Carabinier Regiment. Upon the abolition of the jaeger regiments on January 28, 1833, the regiment, according to the official data of the directory of V.K. Shenk , was divided in half between the Siberian and Little Russian grenadier regiments; according to the data of G. S. Gabayev, the regiment was divided battalion between the Siberian, Little Russian and Astrakhan grenadier regiments. The seniority of the regiment was not preserved, and insignia were inherited in the Siberian and Little Russian regiments.

Shelf Campaigns

Both active battalions were in the 14th Infantry Division of the 1st Separate Infantry Corps; the grenadier company of the 2nd battalion was in the 1st consolidated grenadier battalion of the same division; these battalions took part in many matters of the Patriotic War and Foreign campaigns . The reserve battalion was in the garrison of Riga .

Regiment Insignia

The 26th Jaeger Regiment had the following insignia: two silver pipes with the inscription β€œ For distinction in defeat and expulsion of the enemy from the borders of Russia in 1812 ”, granted on April 13, 1813 (one at a time went to the Siberian and Little Russian regiments); badges for hats for lower ranks with the inscription "For Distinction", granted April 27, 1814
