Educational and Scientific Base of MSU
From 1972 to 2003, an educational and scientific base of the Geographical Faculty of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov worked in the village. Summer field practice in cryolitology was held here by students of the Department of Cryolitology and Glaciology (more than 150 people in total). The practice included not only work in Ust-Port itself and its immediate vicinity, but also multi-day routes on an all-terrain vehicle to the tundra (30-50 km from the village), on a boat along the Yenisei (from Vorontsovo to Igarka ). Graduate students and research workers conducted year-round stationary and field studies of the temperature regime, cryogenic soil structure , heaving processes, frost cracking, the formation of sunspot-medallions and other permafrost landforms, etc. Dozens of scientific papers have been published based on the materials of the station, several are protected.
