Biography

From the nobles of the province of Estland .

  • The year 1779 entered the Artillery and Gentry Engineer Corps , which he graduated on June 26, 1782, was appointed ensign in the 2nd Fusilier Regiment.
  • 1786 - transferred to the Bombardier Regiment.

He participated in the war with the Swedes in 1788-1790, being enlisted by an artillery officer on the bombing ship Perun. He participated in naval battles with the Swedish fleet at about. Oland, under Revel, Vyborg and Krasnaya Gorka, for which he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir 4th century. with a bow and the rank of captain.

  • 1794 - was at the siege of Vilna and Prague.
  • 1797 - defined in the 8th Artillery Battalion with the rank of major.
  • 1799 - promoted to colonel.
  • 1800 - appointed commander of the Smolensk Dragoon Regiment.
  • 1803 - re-appointed to command the Smolensk Dragoon Regiment.
  • 1804 - promoted to major general.
  • 1805 - participated in a campaign in Austria and fought with the French near Krems, St. Pölten and was wounded by a grenade shard in the right leg near Austerlitz .
  • 1806 - participated in the battles on the Narew River.
  • 1806 , September 24 - dismissed due to a collision with A. A. Arakcheyev.
  • On November 19, 1809 he was again accepted into the service and was appointed commandant of Anapa. Order of St. George 4th class. received November 26, 1809 for long service.
  • 1810 - was at the siege of the fortress of Anapa, directing the siege artillery.
  • Since October 25, 1810, he was the chief of the Anapa garrison regiment, remaining commandant in Anapa.
  • 1825 - retired due to illness and settled in St. Petersburg.
  • 1831 - died during a cholera epidemic and was buried in the Kulikovo quarantine cemetery.

Personal life

His wife (since 1811 ) is Yekaterina Mikhailovna Daurova (1773/1778–25.03.1854), a Circassian (Abaza) princess, captured in 1791 as a prisoner of the capture of Anapa by Count Gudovich and brought up by Count Kokovsky. Through this marriage, Buchholz acquired great family ties in the mountains. Ekaterina Mikhailovna gave her husband immense help and enjoyed general respect among the local population, who through her mediation had relations with the Russian authorities. According to the contemporaries, there was “a person whom you will meet little; who does not love truth, do not approach her; with intelligence and intelligence, he will tell everyone in the eyes who is worth; the woman is pleasant and in her own words 42 years old, but retaining the beauty of the attractive; everyone, seeing the freshness of her face, diminishes her for more than ten years; everything in her is lovely, and the eyes are surely victorious; it is equally good with sunshine and candlelight; astride and in the Circassian dress exactly a goddess! The kindness of the soul and the desire to serve everyone and to share the last joined her to the external beauties [1] . She died in Simferopol and was buried in the general city cemetery [2] .
