The Gydoyamsk district was formed on August 10, 1944 in the Yamalo-Nenets okrug of the Omsk region from the Gydoyamsk and Taran village councils that were previously part of the Taz region .
On August 14, 1944 , it was transferred, together with the okrug, to the Tyumen region .
It was abolished on June 4, 1946. The territory became part of the Tazovsky district of the Tyumen region .
