City Hall Stratford.

According to the 2006 census , the city's population was 30,461 people. The city was founded in 1832 , and named after Stratford-upon-Avon , an ancient city in England. In the 19th century , a swan was approved as a symbol of the city, in honor of which four white and two black swans are released into the Avon River every year.

Originally, the city was a railway junction . In the XX century, the furniture industry was the main production of the city, the first serious strikes in the city were associated with this, when in 1933 workers led by representatives of the Communist Workers' League "Unity" protested against certain working conditions. Soon the army of Canada arrived in the city, and it crushed the uprising.
