Hot for Words

In February 2007, Charles Como ( born Charles T. Como ), the creator of Internet sites for music groups, registered the trademark "The Hot for Words" (from English - "Hot Words"), a YouTube video hosting account was also registered Hotforwords. On March 7, 2007, the first video “Introduction to Philology ;-)” [8] [9] was published. Orlova said it was at the time when “everyone was loading layering” [10] [11] .

The videos begin with the motto “Intelligence is sexy” ( English Intelligence is Sexy ) and tell about the etymology of the words of the English language . Some of her entries focus on everyday words, such as irony and OK , while others dig out rather unusual ones (eg: floccinaucinihilipilification and antidisestablishmentarianism ). Separate entries deal with idioms , such as "dressed to the nines" and "three sheets to the wind" or new words like Google's verb .

In 2008, Orlova was recognized by Wired magazine as the “sexiest geek in the world” ( eng. World's # 1 Sexiest Geek ) in the contest “Sexual Geek of the Year” ( eng. Sexy Geek of the Year Contest ) [12] repeatedly Orlov was included in the list of his “hot women network” ( English Hot Women of the Net ), and Cosmopolitan magazine called her “the most popular YouTube guru” ( English most subscribed to YouTube guru ) [13] [14] 8 Marina Orlova repeatedly acted as an expert on a US television show The Bill O'Reilly Factor . [11] [7]

Orlova appeared on the cover of the November issue of the Rebel ( Eng. Mutineer Magazine ) magazine in 2009, dedicated to the production of wine, beer and alcoholic beverages [15] , which talked about how common words are used in the beverage industry. Orlova had a profile on Medium ( English The Medium ), an online version of the magazine . [sixteen]

The Moscow Times wrote that Orlova exploits the image of a “blonde bomb” to the maximum. She appears in her clips slightly dressed, with puffed lips and “making eyes” - this is the main success factor. “However, although the number of low-income girls on the Internet is limitless, not all of them invest so much intellectual effort in their success.” [17]

Videos created by Marina Orlova, in general, gain more than 10 million times a month on Youtube. Since its release, individual videos have been viewed up to 23 million times. The total number of views for all videos in April 2012 was about 456 million views. These facts make Marina Orlov one of the most successful video bloggers. [11] [7]

In an interview, Orlova explained how she had interested the audience with knowledge of the words: “How else could I involve them in words?”; "Everyone knows that ' sex sells '." [eleven]

In the spring of 2010, Marina started doing video Russian lessons for the RT channel . [18]
