Career
Harold joined George Patterson 's Liverpool in November 1928 , but only made his team debut on October 9, 1929 in a match against Blackburn Rovers at Anfield (1: 1), and Barton scored the first goal for the Reds only 7 February 1931 in a match against Newcastle . In the same match, Dave Wright scored for the first time for the team, but the Scotsman managed to score three times in this game.
For a long time, Barton could not break into the club’s main squad; the most successful season in Liverpool was the 1932/1933 season , during which he went 36 times and scored 13 goals. Three of these thirteen goals forever made Harold the hero of the Reds fans - on February 11, 1933, he scored a hat-trick in the Merseyside derby at Anfield Road , and Liverpool won with a score of 7: 4. He never scored against the Everton goal.
In June 1934, Barton moved to Sheffield United , which he played for before the outbreak of World War II . After the war ended, he did not resume his professional career.
