Aleksey Efimovich Uchitel (born August 31, 1951 , Leningrad ) is a Soviet and Russian film director , screenwriter, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation (2002) [2] , artistic director of the Rock studio .

Biography
Alexei Uchitel was born on August 31, 1951 in Leningrad in the family of documentary director Yefim Uchitel .
In 1975 he graduated from VGIK , worked at the Leningrad Documentary Film Studio.
In 1990, he founded his film studio " Rock ". The debut as a director of feature films for the Teacher was the film “ Giselle Mania ”.
In 2000, he received the Nika Prize, the Kinotavr Grand Prix and the Crystal Globe nomination for the film His Wife 's Diary .
In 2002, Alexei Uchitel became a People’s Artist of Russia [2] .
The 2005 film “ Cosmos as a Premonition ” received the main prize of the XXVII Moscow International Film Festival - Golden Saint George and the Golden Eagle award for best directorial work.
Since 2010 - President of the International Film Festival of documentary, short fiction and animated films “Message to Man” in St. Petersburg.
Alexey Uchitel is a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Motion Picture Arts " Nika ".
Public position
In October 2008, he signed an open letter of appeal in defense and support of the release of the lawyer of the Yukos oil company Svetlana Bakhmina [3] .
On March 11, 2014, he signed an appeal by cultural figures of the Russian Federation in support of the policy of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Ukraine and the Crimea [4] .

- Son - Ilya (born 1992), graduated from the directing department of VGIK .
- The second (unofficial) wife is Julia Peresild , actress.
