Angelica Houston ( born Anjelica Huston , born July 8, 1951 ) is an American actress and director, best known for her role as Morticia Addams in the film " Addams Family " and its continuation .

Biography
Young years
Angelica Houston was born in Santa Monica , California , July 8, 1951 in the family of director John Houston and his fourth wife, prima ballerina Enrica Soma, who was Italian-American [5] [6] . Her grandfather, Walter Houston , was a theater and film actor, winner of the Oscar . The actress also has an older brother, Tony, half-brother Danny and half-sister Allegra.
Her childhood passed in Ireland and England , where she studied at the prestigious boarding school for girls in Connemara, as well as at Holland Park School.
Acting career
In 1969, Angelica first appeared in the movie, starring in two films of her father. In the same year, her mother, Enrika Soma, died in a car accident. A few years later, Angelica moved to the United States , where she took up a successful modeling career. In the early 1980s, she again began to act in films in small roles. Among the most famous films of that period with the participation of Angelica was “The Postman Always Calls Twice ” (1981), where the main roles were played by Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lang .
After a series of small roles in film and television in 1985, Angelica performed a major role in her father's film “The Honor of the Przzi Family ”. The role of Mayrose Prizzi earned her the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress , making her the third in the family to receive this award, after her father, John Houston , and grandfather, Walter Houston . In 1987, Angelica again starred in her father’s film Dead , for which she received the Independent Spirit Award. This film was the last in the career of John Houston , before he died of emphysema in the same year.
Angelica was twice nominated for an Oscar : in 1990, for his role in the film “ Enemies. Love Story ”and 1991 for his role in“ Scammers ”. In the same year, she performed one of her most famous roles - Morticia Adams in the film “ Addams Family ”, and two years later she played it again in the continuation of the film. Angelica was nominated five times for an Emmy for her roles on television. In 2005, she won the Golden Globe for her role as Carrie in the television movie Angels with Iron Teeth. Since January 2008, Angelica starred in the series " Medium ", where she plays the role of Cynthia Keener.
In the middle of November 2019, the animated comedy “ Guardians of the Arctic ” will be released in Russian rental, in the original version of which Angelica voiced Magda.
Directing
After many roles in film and television in the mid-1990s, Angelica took up directing. Her first film, Carolina's Bastard, was released in 1996. Later, she made two more films - “Agnes Brown” (1999) and “Rides with Sister” (2005).
Personal life
In the late 1960s, Houston had a relationship with photographer Bob Richardson, who was 23 years older than her [7] . Also for 16 years (from 1973 to 1989), Angelica lived with Jack Nicholson .

In 1992, she married sculptor Robert Graham . Together they lived in Venice, California, until Graham's death in 2008. They had no children.
