Volker , Volker from Alzey or Volker von Salz is the legendary character of the German epic poem “ Song of the Nibelungs ”, a musician- spielman , one of the knights at the Burgundian royal court. Serves the kings of Burgundy Gunther, Gernot and Giselher [1] .
Volker is a man of noble birth and, in fact, is not a spireman [2] . He received this nickname for his love of music and because of his legendary violin, with a bow which in battle could wield no worse than a sword. Lives in Worms along with other heroes of the epic [2] . In 30 aventure helps Hagen von Thronier guard the hall where the Burgundians are located, and also participates in many scenes throughout the “Song.” He is one of the most important characters [1] . He dies from the arrow of one of the Huns, performing his last song [3] .
In another version - killed by Hildebrand, who avenged Volker for the death of the Duke of Siegstab.
