Life and work
In 1921 - 1922 he studied in Berlin as a bookseller. In 1925 - 1928 he studied painting in the class of Karl Hofer at the Joint State School for Free and Applied Arts in Berlin. In 1926 - 1927 he took part in the exhibitions of the Berlin Secession and the Munich New Secession. Since 1928 he lived in Paris, and then, after receiving a Bornholm scholarship in 1930 to improve his artistic skills, he left for Italy. In 1931 - 1932 he lived and worked at Villa Massimo in Rome .
- 1937 a ban on exhibiting in Germany, Ney's works declared to be classified as “degenerative art”, as “samples” several works exhibited at Nazi exhibitions of “degenerative art” in Berlin and Munich
- 1937-1938 lives with Edward Munch in Lofoten, Norway
- 1939-1945 during the Second World War, drafted into the army
