Biography
Dorothy Eloise Maloney ( born Dorothy Eloise Maloney ) was born on January 30, 1925 in Chicago . Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Dallas , where young Dorothy began acting as a model and taking part in school theater productions. During training at the Southern Methodist University, she was noticed by an agent “RKO” and soon she signed a contract with this film company. In 1942, her film debut took place.
At an early stage in his career, Dorothy Malone starred mainly in category B films , many of which were westerns . In 1940-1950, the most famous of her roles were the owner of a bookstore in the film "Big Dream" (1946), as well as Abigail in the film "Artists and Models" (1955). In 1953, she starred in the film "Law and Order", where her partner was a famous actor, and in the future, 40th US President Ronald Reagan .
In 1957, the actress received an Academy Award for her role in the film Words Written in the Wind. After that, she attracted even more directors' attention, and in subsequent years she was invited to shoot in such films as “A Man with a Thousand Faces” (1957), “The Tainted Angels” (1958), “Sheriff” (1959) and “ The Last Journey ”(1960).
Since the late 1950s, Dorothy Malone began to appear on television. From 1964 to 1969, she played the role of Constance Mackinsey in the Peyton Place television series. Her last movie role was Hazel Dobkins in the 1992 film Basic Instinct . For her contribution to the US film industry, the actress was awarded a star on the 1718 Vine Street Hollywood Walk of Fame .
Dorothy Malone was married three times and divorced three times. From her first husband, the French actor Jacques Bergerac, gave birth to daughters Mimi and Diane. The actress died in a clinic in Dallas on January 19, 2018 at the age of 93. [4] [5] [6] At the time of her death, Malone was one of the last stars of the golden age of Hollywood .
