Biography
After graduating from the law faculty of the University of Tokyo in 1941, he joined the Ministry of the Interior. During the war he volunteered for the Navy and served in Taiwan.
In 1947, he was first elected to parliament by the Democratic Party. Already in those years he was distinguished by nationalist views, in 1951 abstained from voting for the Japanese-American security treaty, believing that it infringes on the sovereignty of Japan.
Political career
Member of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) since its inception. In 1959, he first joined the government as head of the scientific and technical department. Later he held the posts of the head of the National Defense Department, the Minister of Transport, the head of the administrative department in the cabinet of ministers. In the LDP, I. Kono belonged to the faction, then headed this faction, becoming one of the party leaders - chairman of the council of general issues, gene. the secretary.
In 1982-1987 - Chairman of the LDP, Prime Minister of Japan. Nakasone is an unconventional politician with a pronounced personal political style, speaking under the slogan of "finalizing the results of post-war politics."
