Monument to Leonid Sobinov (Yaroslavl)

Monument to People's Artist of the RSFSR Leonid Vitalyevich Sobinov, opera singer, the largest representative of the Russian classical vocal school (lyric tenor). Not far away is Sobinova Street (formerly Zrubnaya), where the future singer was born and spent his young years. The sculpture is located at the regional philharmonic building at the intersection of Maksimov and Trefolev streets .

The author of the creation - the sculptor, honored artist of Russia Elena Paskhina conceived the bronze Sobinov back in 1999. “I reviewed a huge number of fashion magazines of the time. There was nothing accidental about his clothes, everything was carefully thought out, down to the buttons that he ordered to himself, ”she said.

To find out about this famous person in every detail, Elena Vasilyevna had to become a frequenter of libraries and archives, and also visit the Sobinov House in Moscow. “When you touch the things touched by Sobinov, you sit in the same chair and at the same table with green cloth, then, naturally, some kind of nourishment is already underway on a spiritual level. I realized that he was a very highly educated and thin person, ”said Elena Pashina.

Leonid Vitalyevich fashioned in one and a half natures, that is, above two meters.

Sobinov is depicted in stage costume in the role of Lensky, whose part is considered one of the best in the work of the singer. At the same time, looking at the monument, it is easy to imagine that Leonid Vitalyevich returned to his hometown and is resting in the gazebo over the Volga. The pedestal and the figure of Sobinov are made of bronze , and the podium is made of concrete with facing of polished and unpolished granite slabs.

The opening of the monument took place on January 3, 2008 .
