Messianism is found in a number of world religions, is a characteristic feature of the Abrahamic religions .
In modern religious studies, it is believed that the causes of messianism are associated with unsolved social problems, loss of hope for a better future, etc. Messianism found fertile ground among nations, ethnic and religious groups that were persecuted and persecuted. For example, the preaching of Messianism in Judaism intensified when the Jewish state was destroyed and the Jews were held captive in Egypt and Babylon.
Messianism was attractive to Christians during the period of persecution in the Roman Empire . According to Christian eschatology , the Second Coming of the Messiah (Jesus Christ) is coming , who will produce the Last Judgment - will punish the sinners and reward the righteous. The ideas of messianism are present in Islam , especially among Shiites . The Shiite minority experienced persecution in many countries. Messianic expectations of Mahdi in Shiite teaching, in addition to the common expectation of the prophet Isa for Muslims, were associated with popular aspirations to establish a kingdom of justice on earth.
