Roop, Christopher Khristoforovich

Christopher Christopher Roop ( him. Christoph Roop ; May 1, 1831 - 1917 , Petrograd ) - Russian statesman and military leader, General of Infantry (August 30, 1885), the last private owner of the Pehra-Yakovlevskoe estate near Moscow.

Biography

Evangelical Reformed religion. From the nobles of Minsk province . Educated in the 1st cadet corps . Entered the service on May 26, 1849 as an ensign in the Life Guards Horse Grenadier Regiment . Participant of the campaign 1849 in Hungary. Lieutenant ( December 6, 1849 ), headquarters ( December 6, 1852 ).

In 1854 he graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff for the first category, was awarded a small silver medal. Captain ( May 31, 1854 ). Art. Adjutant Headquarters Guards. reserve cavalry corps ( August 3, 1854 - May 23, 1855 ). Divisional Quartermaster Guards Cuirassiers Division ( May 23, 1855 - January 1, 1857 ). Colonel ( January 1, 1857 ). From January 1, 1857 - Chief of Staff of the 2nd Light Guards Cavalry Division . From October 12, 1857 was at the headquarters of a separate guard corps . From November 26, 1862 - Chief of Staff of the 1st Guards Infantry Division . Ober Quartermaster Guv. res. kav Corps ( June 30 - September 8, 1862 , again November 26, 1862 - August 10, 1864 ). Major General ( April 17, 1863 ).

From August 10, 1864 - Chief of Staff of the Kharkov Military District . From May 12, 1865 was for special assignments under the commander of the troops of the Moscow IN . From March 19, 1866 - Chief of Staff of the Moscow VO. Lieutenant General ( March 28, 1871). On August 30, 1875 - Head of the 1st Grenadier Division .

During the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878. participated in the Battle of Avliyar-Aladzhi and in the storming of Kars . From April 16, 1878 - Commander of the 6th Army Corps . From October 21, 1883 - Commander of the Odessa Military District , since 1885 - Odessa Governor-General . In 1889, on the initiative of Roop, in Odessa, in Alexander Park , an arena was opened for children's games and gymnastic exercises.

From October 12, 1890 - Member of the State Council . In the reformed State Council (1906) he was appointed to attend, a member of the right-wing group, in 1914 he moved to non-partisan.

January 1, 1917 transferred to non-present members of the Council of State. On May 1, 1917, among all the members of the State Council, he was taken out of state by appointment. Dismissed from service by decree of the SNK in December 1917, but since October 25, 1917, in connection with the abolition of the State Council. He died in Petrograd in 1917.

Family

He was married twice, to Varvara Alexandrovna Ozerskaya (1839-1867, died in childbirth) and to Maria Stepanovna Shelashnikova. Children: Vladimir , Olga - from the first marriage; Sergey (b. 1882), Christopher - from the second.
