Bésame mucho (from Spanish - “Kiss me a lot”) - a song in the genre of the Cuban bolero , written in 1940 by the Mexican pianist Consuelo Velasquez Torres ; one of the most famous songs of the XX century. There are hundreds of its performances (including translation into different languages), as well as instrumental versions.

History
The phrase “bésame mucho”, which gave the name to the song, literally translates into Russian as “kiss me a lot”. Consuelo told me that she wrote this song when she had never kissed herself. She was inspired by the aria “Quejas, o la Maja y el Ruiseñor” from the opera by Spanish composer Enrique Granados “ Goieschi ” ( 1916 ).
The first recorded this song was tenor Emilio Tuero ( es: Emilio Tuero ) (Mexico-Spain). This is the most recorded song of all time. A partial list of its performers is presented below, including Nat King Cole , Frank Sinatra , The Beatles (1962), Juan Gilberto , Dalida , Sarah Montiel , Cesaria Evora , Luis Miguel , Jimmy Dorsey , Dean Martin , Andrea Bocelli , Diana Krall . The Beatles often played it on live performances since 1962 (although they did not release its studio recordings before Anthology 1 ) [1] .
In the 14th edition of the animated series “ Well, wait a minute! »The melody“ Bésame mucho ”was used, arranged by C. Wunderlich .
In 2007, jazz trombone player Steve Wiest arranged the “Bésame mucho” for the performance of the biopic film Maynard Ferguson The One and Only Maynard Ferguson .
