Dmitry Vissarionovich Shebalin ( August 3, 1930 , Moscow - August 12, 2013 [1] [2] , Moscow ) - violist, artist of the A.P. Borodin Quartet , teacher. People's Artist of the RSFSR ( 1974 ). Laureate of the USSR State Prize ( 1986 ).

Biography
D.V. Shebalin was born on August 3, 1930 in Moscow in the family of the composer Vissarion Yakovlevich Shebalin . Already at the age of 6, he composed music: “The Cantata of Stalin” [3] .
In 1948 he graduated from the Central Music School - he studied violin with K. G. Mostras and Yu. I. Yankelevich , as well as the piano with N. N. Kuvshinnikov [3] .
He studied at the Moscow Conservatory at the orchestra faculty (on the viola - from the second year, first with M.N. Terian , then with V.V. Borisovsky ) and, at the newly opened, faculty of symphonic conducting (with A.V. Gauk ) . There were only three students at the conducting faculty: Dmitry Shebalin, Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Evgeny Svetlanov . While still studying at the conservatory, D. V. Shebalin began to perform as part of the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra of the All-Union Radio (1950-1952) [3] .
In 1953 he graduated from the orchestra faculty of the Moscow Conservatory.
In 1952 [3] - 1996, D. V. Shebalin performed as part of the Quartet named after A. P. Borodin ” [4] .
He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy Cemetery (8th educational site, 29th row), next to his parents [5] .
Awards and titles
- USSR State Prize (1986) - for the concert programs of 1982-1983
- State Prize of the RSFSR named after M.I. Glinka ( 1968 ) - for concert programs of 1965-1966 and 1966-1967 [5]
- People's Artist of the RSFSR ( 1974 )
- Order of Friendship ( December 29, 1994 ) - for services to the state, successes achieved in labor, culture, art, a great contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation between peoples [6]
D. V. Shebalin was a master of sports in tennis and volleyball [3] .
Teaching activities
He taught the viola class at the Moscow Conservatory (since 1969 - associate professor, since 1996 - professor), led the quartet class (department of chamber ensemble and quartet). In 1980 - 1996 he held master classes in various countries of the world [1] .
Pupils
Among the students are participants in the Chyurlionis Quartet, M.I. Glinka Quartet (T. Kolchanova, E. Kharitonov, D. Potemkin, O. Smirnov), the Quartet composed of: V. Pervakov, Yu. Mayboroda, A. Reader, D Thin-footed; The quartet “Rusquartet” composed of A. Snezhina, A. Yanchishin, K. Zhulev, A. Negodaev.
