Description

In the songs included in the albums of 1990-1993 Letov’s experiences from the practice of expanding consciousness, experiments in magic , hiking in the Ural forests, the use of psychoactive substances and stimulants, encephalitis , the death of Yanka Diaghileva , the collapse of the USSR were reflected.

Compositions of the project “Yegor and Tanned” are characterized as psychedelic . The influence of American garage rock and psychedelia of the 60s , which are combined with the musical ideas of post-punk , is noticeable; besides this, in some places there are elements of noise-rock characteristic of the previous work of Civil Defense , also, especially on the album Jump-Skok , there is folk rock and its branch, psychedelic folk . The sound of the project is quite distinctive and combines many styles of different eras and musical experiments, but the basis, nevertheless, is psychedelic rock of the 60s and postpunk of the 80s, from which Yegor Letov repelled. Title

According to Letov, the obscene name was given to the team in order to make it as difficult as possible to mention his work in the media and thereby be safe from market conditions . [2] The band’s latest album, “Psychedelia Tomorrow,” was recorded with the band's name simply “Fucked.”

History

The project "Egor and the late-comers" arose in 1990 after the temporary termination of the Civil Defense group (after a concert in Tallinn on April 13, 1990) and is similar in composition.

A possible “forerunner” for the new group was the magneto-album “ Chronicle of the Dive Bomber ” [3] of another summer project “ Communism ”, recorded at the very beginning of 1990, after which the project ceased to exist. The album was filled with psychedelic and folk motifs, and the songs from this album were subsequently included in the albums of “Fell Asleep”.

During the recording of the albums of "Egor and Totally Fooled" the band members did not give any interviews and refused offers of concerts.

The first album, Jump-Skok , was recorded in May-July 1990. In addition to Letov, Konstantin Ryabinov ( Kuzya Uo ) (indicated on the album cover, but did not participate in the recording), Igor Zhevtun ( Jeff ) and Julia Sherstobitova participated in the recording of the album.

The album “ One Hundred Years of Solitude ” was recorded by Letov from January 1991 to June 1992 with the participation of Konstantin Ryabinov, Anna Volkova, Igor Zhevtun, Alexander Rozhkov.

In 1993, almost entirely instrumental (with the exception of several compositions on Rozhkov’s texts) was recorded, the album “ Psychedelia Tomorrow ”, officially released much later. One of the numbers included in the final version is dated 1999.

In 2005, the re-release of albums previously released under this project began.

The last album of Civil Defense, “ Why Do I Have Dreams, ” was originally planned as an album of the project “Yegor and Fucked”. Subsequently, Letov abandoned this idea, but ultimately on the cover of the digipack both names are present.
