Geography
The County occupies an area of 8697 km², occupying 3.6% of the area of Romania and being the largest in the country.
Borders on the bugs:
- Hunedoara - in the east;
- Arad - in the north;
- Karash-Severin - in the south;
- with the Chongrad County of Hungary - in the north-west;
- with the districts of Vojvodina , the North Banat and Mid Banat districts of Serbia - in the south-west.

In 2007, the population of the County was 666 866 people (including the male population - 319 587 and the female - 342 729 people), the population density - 76.67 people / km².
