The Victoria Cup is a prize, according to the organizers, annually contested by professional hockey teams from Europe and the NHL . The winner receives 1,000,000 Swiss francs .

The Victoria Cup was announced in 2007 as an event marking the centennial of the founding of the IIHF . The tournament is named after the Victoria rink in Montreal , where on March 3, 1875 the first official hockey match was played and in honor of the British Queen Victoria.
The trophy was a cup with twelve symbolic clubs attached to its inner sides.
It was decided to play the Cup between the NHL club and the best European team. The first Victoria Cup was held on October 1, 2008 between the winner of the European Cup of ice hockey Magnitogorsk “Metallurgist” and the NHL representative, who was chosen by the leadership of the league - “ New York Rangers ”.
In 2009, Europe was represented by the winner of the Hockey Champions League “ ZSK Lyons ”, and the NHL - “ Chicago Blackhawks ”.
Since the 2009/2010 season of the Hockey Champions League was canceled, the Victoria Cup did not take place in 2010, and has not been held since.
