Story
The plot is based on a Japanese folk tale.
The kind and wise wanderer Hanasaka cured a seriously ill boy who could not be helped by any doctors - he made him an origami paper toy - a puppy named Akairo. The toy puppy, as befits a fairy tale, came to life and drove away the evil demon who tormented the child. However, the stern samurai father of the boy, enraged that the old man gave some kind of toy to his son instead of medicine, chopped up the old man’s toys with a sword and burned them all (except Akairo, whom the boy put under his blanket), and then ordered his the servant to find and kill Hanasaka. Upon learning of this, the boy, along with Akairo, fled from home to find the old man. A year passed, but the boy never found him; one day during sakura blossom, he apologized to Akairo, unfolded the paper from which the puppy was made, and began to try to fold the paper figures himself. When he managed to fold the puppy again, and he came to life again, the boy began to put together various figures from sakura petals, which turned into sheets of paper in his hands, and these figures also came to life.
