Archibald Hunter ( Archibald Hunter ; September 23, 1859 , Joppa , near Era - November 29, 1894 , Birmingham ), better known as Archie Hunter ( English Archie Hunter ) - Scottish footballer , striker , first captain English club " Aston Villa ".

Hunter played in Terd Lanarke and Air Tisle before moving to Aston Villa in 1878, 10 years before the creation of the Football League . Despite the fact that he was one of the best players of the time, he still could not fulfill his dream of playing for the Scottish national team , this was due to the fact that the Scottish Football Association forbade the inclusion of Scots playing in England .

There is a legend that Hunter came to Birmingham to play for Caltorpe , but because he could not find the team’s location, he was forced to play for Aston Villa.

Hunter was the first player to score in every FA Cup match for Aston Villa, in the victorious FA Cup in 1887 .

In 1890, Hunter suffered a heart attack in a soccer league match with Everton and fainted. Since then, he did not get out of bed and died on November 29, 1894 at the age of 35. It is said that before his death, he asked to be lifted up to see the crowd going to Perry Barr .

His brother Andy also played for Aston Villa.

In 1998, Hunter was included in the list of 100 legends of the Football League .
