Career
For the first time, Huseyn Khalafov appeared on the scene in 1897 when he played the role of groom Kerim in the comedy of Mirza Fatali Akhundov directed by Dzhangir Zeynalov , as the bridegroom of Karim [1] . So, in 1897, when a comedy was being prepared for production in the Zeynalov’s house, amateur actors were not enough to perform episodic roles in the play. Then S. M. Ganizade and G. Makhmudbekov attracted their students - Huseyn Khalafov and Mir Mahmud Kyazimovsky [6] .

This role brought Arablinsky fame [1] . He also played the roles of Shah (“ Aga Muhammad Shah Kajar ”, A. Akhverdiev ), Khlestakova ( “ Examiner ” , N.V. Gogol ), Heydar bey (“ Hadji Gar ”, MF Akhundov), Othello ( “ Othello ” " , W. Shakespeare ) and others.
The pseudonym Arablinsky was the name of a young spectator, in whom the actor was in love during a tour in Derbent in 1906 .
Soon, as a talented actor, he was invited to the Nijat Theater Society as the main director. Since 1907, Huseyn Arablinsky worked as a theater director.
In 1916, he starred in the film “ In the Realm of Oil and Millions ” directed by Boris Svetlov as Lutfali bey.
Doom
Huseyn Arablinsky was shot dead on March 5 (17) [1] [7] 1919 (according to other sources - March 7 [8] ). The reason for the assassination of Arablinsky is not exactly known [9] . According to the official Soviet version, the responsibility for the murder rests with the nationalists [9] , the Musavat statisticians [10] [3] , the mercenaries of the reactionaries [4] (it was even noted that he was killed by the Musavat statistics officer [2] ). It was also believed that Arablinsky was killed by fanatics, "trying to drown out the imperious voice of truth from the stage" [11] .
Arablinsky was killed two days before the premiere of Muslim Magomayev ’s opera "Shah Ismail" , which was supposed to be held on March 7, 1919, and on which he worked as a stage director (he achieved synchronous sounding of actors, choir and orchestra). On March 4, at the request of the Committee of Caucasian Muslim Students, the operetta of Uzeyir Hajibeyov “ Not That, So This ” was shown, and then an evening of relaxation with oriental and European dances took place, on which Arablinsky danced, joked and laughed a lot. And early in the morning, when he returned home, they kill him. Here is how theater expert Adel Aliyev describes this tragic morning:
“He does not have time to take off his jacket, as the killer points a revolver at him, shoots at point blank range and runs out of the house. From the noise, a mother wakes up, in whose hands, without regaining consciousness, Huseynbala dies. Meanwhile, the neighbor, frightened by the shot, screams, near the near-water one, when she sees a man running downstairs, whistles furiously. Unsuspecting early passersby detain the runaway and hand him over to the police. Still not knowing who is killed, a neighbor points to him. The runaway sister Dursaduf screams, cursing his relative Abdulkhalyg. The news of the murder of G. Arablinsky spreads around the city with the speed of lightning, and a real pilgrimage begins to the house. ” [7]
The funeral of Huseyn of Arablinsky was popular. Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Sidgi Rukhulla and many actors of the Azerbaijani theater performed highly appreciated directorial work of the Arablinsky. After the death of Arablinsky “Othello” did not put until the end of the season. And only on December 12 the performance was resumed with the participation of Abbas Mirza Sharifzade , a student of Arablinsky [7] .
On the day of the murder, there was a singer and guitarist, the wife of Arablinsky, Asya Shishkin, in the room, who saw who was shooting. After the death of Arablinsky, the mother of the deceased, who hated her from the first days of her appearance, drives her out of the house. Asya later calls the name of the true culprit of the death of Huseynbala - Islam Zeynalov, who, apparently, was provoked by the Arablinsky cousin Abdulkhalyg. After some time, Abdulkhalyg was released from prison and he, fearing human anger, left for Central Asia forever. According to another version, he is identified in Ganja on the street and killed there [7] . There is an opinion that the reason for the assassination of Arablinsky by his cousin was a prejudice towards male roles as women were forbidden to play in the theater at that time, and Huseyn Arablinsky performed female roles [12] .
It is noted that with the death of Arablinsky, the Azerbaijani theater suffered a huge loss [9] .
