Glassjaw is a post-hardcore band from New York formed by vocalist Daryl Palambo and guitarist Justin Beck in 1993. The group is considered one of the driving forces behind the development of underground music in the eastern United States. Glassjaw is known for its live shows and frequent lineup changes. Despite the fact that the group was formed in 1993, they managed to release their first studio album only in 2000. Currently, the composition of the group is as follows: Daryl Palambo (vocals), Justin Beck (guitar), Travis Sykes (bass) and Chad Hesty (drums).

History
The Early Years (1993-1998)
The group appeared in the summer of 1993 after a meeting between Daryl and Justin. The first concert took place in Oceanside, NY. Beck also played at that time with the band Sons of Abraham , and Palambo in another band, XbustedX. The composition of the group constantly changed while they played in the local New York scene. Justin Beck first played the drums, then played the bass when Ariel Telford left the band in 1998, then switched to guitar during the departure of Chris Baldwin and the appearance of Manuel Carrero in 1999.
In 1997, the band recorded EP Kiss Kiss Bang Bang , which was released by 2 Cents a Pop (reissued by the group in 2001). The composition of the group at that time: Palambo, Beck, Weinstock, Telford and Baldwin. The "Star Above My Bed" from this EP is still being played at Glassjaw concerts. In the 90s, Glassjaw recorded a lot of demos, including with producer Don Fury ( Quicksand ), well-known on the New York hardcore scene.
Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence (1999-2000)
In 1999, Glassjaw took over the studio in Malibu with producer Ross Robinson ( At the Drive-In , Korn , Limp Bizkit , Slipknot ) and recorded their debut album Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence , which was released in 2000 via Roadrunner Records . The next year the group spent on tours in the USA and Europe. In 2001, dissatisfied with the lack of support from the label, the band members broke off relations with Roadrunner and began recording their second album with Robinson’s funds.
Worship and Tribute (2001-2003)
The band’s second album was called Worship and Tribute and was released by Warner Bros. Records . The album came out more restrained, diverse and "adult." The group wrote all the material in one period of time (unlike EYEWTKAS, which included songs written by the group over several years). The bass player Manuel Carrero left Glassjaw, and Justin Beck recorded bass parts for the album. Ross Robinson found Larry Gorman’s drummer insufficiently experienced to record the drums proper (Robinson doesn’t record musicians with a digital metronome in principle), but appreciated his vocal data, as a result of which the drum parts written by Gorman were played by Shannon Larkin ( Godsmack ), and Larry himself recorded backing vocals for the album. 2002 and most of 2003 went on endless tours again, which often had to be canceled due to health problems of vocalist Daryl Palambo (he suffers from terminal Crohn's disease ), and at the end of 2003 Glassjaw took a leave of absence. Palambo has assembled a new group called Head Automatica , playing new wave and power pop , and Beck has taken up his online store MerchDirect.
Oblivion and rebirth (2004-2008)
In the fall of 2004, Weinstock, Gorman and bassist Dave Allen left the group (in fact: Beck fired), and the future of Glassjaw was in doubt for many fans.
In the summer of 2005, Glassjaw gave two concerts in a new composition: bassist Carrero and drummer Durrage Lang returned to the group. It was necessary to refuse a tour with The Used when Palambo's health again worsened.
In October 2005, Glassjaw released an EP from songs not included in their second Worship and Tribute album , entitled El Mark .
In July 2006, in Alternative Press, Palambo claimed that Glassjaw was in the process of writing new material for the next album, which he wanted to release in 2007.
In December 2006, Glassjaw again began giving concerts, opening acts with Deftones and Hatebreed , and also went on their own Fucking Tour as headliners.
Glassjaw was headlining the 2007 Saints and Sinners festival , Asbury Park Convention Hall in Asbury Park , New Jersey , along with Against Me! .
In 2008, the album of the "anonymous supergroup" United Nations was released , for which Palambo recorded the guitar parts. The group also includes Thursday vocalist Jeff Rickley and Converge drummer Ben Koller. In 2010, the United Nations released EP Never Mind the Bombings, Here's Your Six Figures , in which Palambo was no longer a member. The group plays in the styles of screamo , power-violence and post-hardcore .
Our Color Green and Coloring Book (2008 - present)
In 2010, the group continued to give concerts, and finally new releases followed. During 2010, Glassjaw released a limited edition of 5 vinyl singles. These songs eventually hit the EP Our Color Green (The Singles), which was released January 1, 2011 on the Internet. The group broke the contract with Warner Bros. and releases new material on their own.
On February 13, 2011, Glassjaw released the EP - Coloring Book with six new songs. New sound experiments have been well received by fans and music critics. In 2011, the group again gave a big tour, and completed it with performances at famous festivals in Reading and Leeds .
